Nagotiation With The Book Lovers
We wanted to go to a Chinese Restaurant for dinner, the tai-chao type (outdoor, no aircon) which the girls don’t really fancy. Zara kept saying she didn’t want to go and asked us to eat at another place, but we told her we’d decided.
Zara : “I will go to the restaurant. But….. you promise me to read 6 books tonight.
Me : “6 is too many. 3.”
Zara : “No.. 5.”
Me : “4 then.”
Zaria chipped in too: “No….. 5.”
Daddy : “Come on. 2 daddy 2 mummy.”
Both girls : “OK then.”.
And true enough, both girls behaved during and ate their dinner.
(I’m actually quite happy they love reading so much that they used this to negotiate. We had to limit night time reading to 2 books per night as their books are getting thicker and stories are getting longer as they grow up.)
huh.. only 6 to begin with ah.. my girl will start at 10 and then I have to neg down to 5 or so. I am using reading book to bribe her to go to sleep, otherwise she wants to sleep on the sofa where hubby is.
haha….mine goes from 2 to 3 to so many….i agree with you, i have to limit to 2!! Eh at least ur hubs also tell story me 1 fella 2 stories, so end up is 4 books actually O.o
very good that both ur gals like listening to stories..
i hv a hard time reading to philip cos he keep want to turn the pages faster… so i hv to summarise each page to 1 sentence most time 🙁
hahaha… good negotiation there.. at least they don’t tell you 6 sweets!! 😀
yeah, very good that both love to read.
very good indeed. i cannot negotiate with books but stories since rye li got heaps of books with many, many (one has hundreds) stories in 1.
i’m waiting for the day she reads to us instead. 😉
wah they love reading ah, this is really good le.
hahaha…mine everynite must have at least 4 stories, that not yet include 1 imaginative story after the light off. Stories she asked me to tell are about her as a chef, has a bookshop, has a furniture shop, play with unicon and etc…
haha yea had to agree .. as they grow older the books get thicker .. i also keep it at 2 only .. if its too late .. it will only be 1.
good habit to cultivate. 🙂
Enjoy reading to them while you can. My girl enjoys reading on her own now. Whenever she has a new book, she would always insist that she read it on her own now before I read to her. Sometimes, when I read to the boy, she would prefer to read herself now.
wah…that’s good …ashley also likes to pile up the books for us to read..but we’d limit it to 2-3.
It’s good that your daughters can negotiate with books. As for my little boy, he will be negotiating on watching those kiddy DVDs instead! ^ ^
Not a fair negotiation wor, both also you like to do. *Hint* to Zara & Zaria, ask mummy to buy more toys.
that’s so good ok!! we have to negotiate with candies/tv!
