Weird Human Behaviour – From a Child’s View

July 5, 2013 at 11:10 am

We talked about ambition one day in the car, and Zaria said she’s undecided on what she wanted to be when she grew up.

A vet dentist (yeah, one who will extract tooth for crocodiles) or a florist.

I casually said she’ll need a rich husband to be a florist, as there’s not much income to be made, since not many people give or get flowers these days. I’m the best example! I’d never received flowers from anyone nor the hubs except the time when I had my miscarriage many years ago where I got a bouquet from my Singapore boss who couldn’t visit me personally.

Both girls replied together, “Yeah, except when they are dead! (in funerals)”

Back home, I thought it’ll be a good topic to write about, so I asked Zaria to write “Weird habits people have.” She was not very happy I asked her to write, but she knew she had to do it or she won’t get to watch TV nor have a go at the iPad.

So this is what she wrote (horrid writing because she’s extremely unhappy with the assignment).

Can you make up what she wrote?

Malaysia Haze

June 28, 2013 at 4:51 pm

The last couple of days, all we Malaysians (and Singaporeans) talked about was the haze! Facebook friends including myself were reporting on API, where to get masks, what was the visibility outside, how the haze was affecting us (itchy skin/eyes, smokey, choking feeling etc).

People were wearing masks, and my girls out of fun, put on theirs as well.

The girls didn’t go to school for 3 days, and were locked up together with me in the study, with ironiser and aircon turned on and doors and windows all shut. Pity them as they are the outdoor type who likes to cycle and runaround at the park.

I made them write about the haze when we were under house arrest, reluctantly they did (hence the sloppy writing) or they won’t get to use the iPad or start their playing session.

Now that the skies are clear and blue, and the fluffy clouds are back, we hope we’d seen the last of the haze.

Zaria’s Apology

February 27, 2013 at 3:27 pm

After 2 days of super bad temper, she wrote this.

http://mytwogirls.net/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/apologies-card-from-zaria.jpg

Zaria : voiceMummy, this is not about my bad temper ok. Just to tell you something.
After reading,
Me : You know, love is not about writing.
Zara : Yeah, it’s about your action.
Me : You see, you scratched daddy until he has a scar. What happened if he got gangrene?
Zaria : How do I know, because I’m not a doctor.

Children Learn Modesty On Their Own – Wearing Under Protection

December 12, 2012 at 12:20 pm

One of the things I didn’t teach the girls, but since Zara started going to Standard 1, she likes wearing a pair of shorts under her pinafore when in school or under a skirt when she goes out.

Zaria too pick this up from Zara.

So I asked them to write about why they need to wear ‘under protection’ (what they called that pair of shorts they wear under their skirt/dresses), and these are what the girls come out with.

Zaria’s reasons.

Zaria’s Writing – Her Love for Her Sister

November 19, 2012 at 8:50 pm

I was away during the weekend accompanying my dad to do his chemo in Singapore. When I got back, I saw this piece of writing by Zaria about Zaria.
Zaria's writing about her sister

Bad spelling, and bad punctuation aside, it shows that she adores her sister.

She’s always amaze at Zara’s ability, especially Zara’s ability to ‘swish’ her hips on the hula hoop.

………

And here are the girls on the hula hoops. Zara is a pro.

While Zaria is still learning.

Kids Say the Darndest Things – Girls Oct Chitter Chatter

November 2, 2012 at 9:35 pm

Over dinner, Zara picked up a stray rice grain.
Zara : Do you know it looks like maggot?
Me : Every rice grain came from the sweat of the farmer, you know.
Zaria (put down her spoon) : What? I’m eating farmer’s sweat?
o.O”
Me : It’s a figure of speech Mei. The farmer has to work very hard and under hot sun to plant rice.
Zara : So, farmers use a lot of sun block?
o.O”
Me : I don’t think they want to spend money on sun block, because they are not so rich.
Zara : Maybe you should go and donate some sun block to the farmers.
o.O”

Hubs had asked Zaria not to eat one of the jelly stick that Zara brought back from her school party, telling her all the artificial colouring/sweetener that it contained etc… She didn’t listen and had it anyway.
Zaria : Mummy, I think I’m going to die?
Me : Why?
Zaria : Because I ate the jelly stick.
Me : You ate it? I thought your daddy already told you not to eat it? Why didn’t you listen to him?
Zaria : Because I don’t want jiejie to be angry with me. After she came back and said, “why you didn’t eat the jelly I gave you? I don’t want to friend you anymore” (blame her sister some more o.O )
Me : Your jiejie won’t be angry.
Zaria : Now tell me, what am I supposed to do?
Me : Take some vegetable will help.
Zaria : It won’t help. I need a chemical stronger than that. If I die, who’s going to make you cards? Who’s going to make you laugh? I’m the joker in the house, who will do tricks which you’d never seen before?. … I want to live. If I die, I won’t be able to do the choral speaking in the school on Monday. My school will be very quiet I’m a chatter box in school. What I take to get rid of the poison?
….. she went on and on…..
And then she drew this.

Zaria's writing

And you would think she would not eat any more of the jelly? The following day, she told me, “I think eating a little will not make me die” Before I could say anything, I saw her taking a small bite from another stick of Jelly, and then thew the remainder in the bin. o.O”

Zaria’s Writing – Easy Way Out

October 29, 2012 at 11:10 pm

As a rule in the house, the girls have to either do a page of writing (on any topic) or do some worksheet to earn themselves time on the iPad.

Most of the time, Zaria chooses to write, and after a while, she knows how to take the easy way out. Check out her writing below.

Listing her family members’ names.

Listing our birthdays.

Listing our birthstones.

And improved further on the same topic.

And the latest, writing about our characters.

Her reply, “What do you want me to write? Five hundred lines is it?”

A Bad Fall – Girls’ writing

September 12, 2012 at 10:21 pm

Zaria had a bad fall 2 days ago. Instead of me writing about what happened, let me have Zara write about it.

Zara's version

They were together when it happened. One minute they were chasing each other, the next Zaria walking to me crying with a bloody nose with Zara following closely behind.

Here is Zaria sharing her experience.

How bad was the fall?

Interactive Play – Barbie Design and Dress Studio

September 9, 2012 at 9:32 am

I’ll let Zara tell you about Barbie Design and Dress Studio.

Zara's writing about Barbie Design and Dress Studio(mind her spelling)

She asked how she should design her clothes, I told her she can always use the stencils, or just draw with freehand. So here is she doing this.

At the end of every ‘print’ she put on the dress, she showed to me and asked if it was ok. Here is the completed dress.

The front.

The back. (Yes! you can design the back too)

She was very excited to remove the completed dress from the ‘frame’.
Zara taking out the dress

And then dressed Barbie up.

She did another one a day later, which looks like this.

It was fun going through this with her… She has kept 2 dresses to be designed together with Zaria.

Note : The giveaway competition for this Barbie will be held end of the week, so come back and join in the competition to win yourself a set of this.
