C2 – Clean and Cool Green Tea

C2 - Clean and Cool Green Tea

When Jelly saw the C2 – Clean and Cool Green Tea that I got the other day, she said, “Oh, this one is very famous tea in Philippines.” And of course she was very happy (which is not often), when I gave her a bottle.

C2 Green Tea is 100% natural and brewed from real tea, and because it’s brewed and packaged fresh on the same day, it retains most of the green tea goodness and benefits which is normally lost in other extraction processes. Packed with powerful anti-oxidant and other green tea goodness, it is definitely better than drinking carbonated drinks.

Nicest when served cold, C2 Green Tea comes in 3 flavours, Forest Fruits, Apple, and Lemon. Zaria said, Forest Fruits taste like medicine, so she didn’t like it after a sip, but Jelly likes this best. The girls prefer Apple flavour, and my favourite is the Lemon. You taste the flavour when you sip it initially, but then you get the lingering tea taste at the end of it in your throat, which I like.

I’ll be serving this refreshingly 100% natural green tea to my guests during Chinese New Year. You can get yours too from 7-11, Mydin, Giant and Jusco.

Now Daddy is saying I should keep tab of the bottles because he doesn’t want the girls drinking it non stop or Jelly nipping it.

I came from a generation where you have pen pals (not cyber friends); keeping in touch means writing letters (on papers) to each other (not Twitting, Face-booking nor blogging) especially those who did not live nearby; and love letters were delivered by postmen.

I was going through a box of letters yesterday after the girls have gone to bed. They were from penpals, friends, and of course from boy friends pledging their undying love (but ironically, all got hitched before I did). Then there’s the many letters from me to Daddy and the few notes Daddy (who never professed his undying love, and who’s not someone who likes to ‘write’ his thoughts) sent to me (together with the grocery supplies from Malaysia) when we were apart for 1 year in different continents.

Paper turned yellow, ink smudges, the various hand writings of thoughts and events on paper. That was the generation I came from.

I was romancing this thought.

One day, the girls will go through my things, and they will find this box of letters (just like in Cape No. 7) and they will understand what I was like in the younger days; who were the friends I had, and whom I’d loved before.

And I wonder, for those who came from a generation where SMS, MSN, emails, twitters, facebook, blogs were the mediums to stay in touch, how will the kids find out of their past, of the loss love? They go through the parents’ portable hard disks? Thumb drives?

How unromantic..

Bookworm Tag

August 5, 2008 at 9:18 am

Knowing I like reading, Kitty Cat got me to do this bookworm tag.

Do you remember how you developed a love for reading?
I can’t remember.
Maybe when I was 7years old. We had story telling competitions in school, and you have to pick a book, read it, and then recite the story to the whole class (and hopefully be selected to represent the class).

What are some books you read as a child?
I can’t remember either but they were all Chinese books.
One set of books I remembered the most was my parents’ gift from Taiwan, compositions written by local children. I can’t recall the name of the books, but some of the composition, I could still vaguely recall.

What is your favourite genre?
Non-fiction novels written by Chinese authors about life in China.

Do you have a favourite novel?
The Good Women of China – By Xinran (I would love to read the Chinese version, but I don’t think I’ll be able to find it)

Where do you usually read?
In bed or in the toilet.

When do you usually read?
If I’m not too tired, after the girls are asleep, or when trying to get them to sleep.
Most of the time when I’m in the toilet.

Do you usually have more than one book you are reading at a time?
Usually no.

Do you read nonfiction in a different way or place than you read fiction?
I’ll feel more for the characters/events since I know they are real.

Do you buy most of the books you read, or borrow them, or check them out of the library?
I buy them most. Most of them are picked up from book sales, but I’ll hunt a title down if I know a favourite author has released a new book. (Library? Who borrow books from the library in Malaysia?)

Do you keep most of the books you buy? If not, what do you do with them?
Yes, I keep most of the books I buy. (Daddy is complaining I need a bigger book shelf)
Only very rarely, do I give away my books.

If you have children, what are some of the favorite books you have shared with them? Were they some of the same ones you read as a child?
Both girls love reading.
Zara’s current favourite is the Ginn Reader Series, while Zaria is books with Maisy. I never read (or being read to) such books when I was young.

When I was a child, I read only Chinese books, and at this point in time, the girls are not being read in Chinese yet. Hopefully, they will when they start going to school.

What are you reading now?
(Chanced upon it when I was in Beijing; not knowing she’s the bilingual author Ge-ling Yan whose The Uninvited is still sitting on my shelf.)

Do you keep a TBR (to be read) list?
My whole shelf is filled with books and I’ll read all of them one day soon, or after I’d retired.

What’s next?
I’ll probably check out Yan Ge-ling’s The Uninvited.

What books would you like to reread?
None identified now, there are so many good books to read (and I’m lucky I’m bi-lingual, so there are more variety), I probably won’t re-read any.

Who are your favourite authors?
Ha Jin, Xin Ran, Yu-Hua (余华), Khaled Hosseini.

Now, I’d like to know more about the reading habits of:

Giddy Tiger

Reading habits are infectious, see how the girls spent a lot of their time when they are in the bedroom.

♥7 things you don’t know about me♥ :

1) I studied 12 years in a famous Chinese school (not even government but semi-private where everything is taught in Chinese) but I think my English is better than my Chinese. 🙁
2) I used to be a teacher : 1.5yrs in a primary school, and then another 2yrs in an English Language Centre for children. I thought I was going to make teaching my life time profession.
3) I normally do relatively well academically, but for A-levels, I scored 2Ds and 1N and received several warnings from the college because I skipped classes way too often (all because of a stupid ex boy friend)
4) I almost gave up hope trying for a baby, and thought we’ll never going to have children, and then we got Zara.
5) I’m very impatient, I get very upset if I needed to repeat something several times and the other person just don’t get it. I think I’m a lousy teacher to Zara.
6) I absolutely hate clutter but then I myself am not a very tidy person.. I mean I want to be tidy, but I have difficulty maintaining it.
7) I’m very sentimental, I like to keep rubbish mementos. My BT phone card during uni days, the entrance ticket to museums I’d visited, the extra small blouse I once was able to fit in… I have more cupboards than Daddy in the house to store all these. 😛 And he calls me a rubbish collector.

And I pass this to :
Syn; Seng Kor (You have become a mystery); Irene

Another Tag – The Ten & Most Embarassing Moment

November 7, 2007 at 10:06 pm

I want my kids to grow up like this boy here. So when he tagged me, I have to oblidge.

1) What is your favourite movie?
I think it must be Pride and Prejudice. I had watched it twice, at home, on a DVD (not Astro). It must be my favourite if I’d watched it twice.

2) Who is your favourite singer?
I’m sure you know the answer already if you’d seen the previous post.
Jackie Cheung of course.
And David Tao too..

3) Which song gets you grooving in the morning?
Actually, I sing the phrase ‘Qi-lai, Qi-lai, Qi-lai, QI-LAI!!’ (Chinese : Wake up, Wake up, Wake up, Wake up) to the girls on mornings when they sleep in late and I needed them to get up. I don’t know if it’s a real song or what, but I’d heard it before.

Can I say it gets us all grooving?

4) What is your favourite fruit?
Must be mango; but I don’t just take any, it has to be fragrant and sweet (I so miss the ones we used to get from the tree in my dad’s house).

5) Who is your best friend (excluding your family)?
Gee.. tough one.
I guess it must be Ping Ping. A friend I met during my A-levels, who helped me with my maths since she was a straight As student and I was like the D student.
After A-levels, we try to meet at least once a year. She studied and then lives overseas you see, so the only time we get to meet is when she comes back to visit her family.
We keep in touch with letters, postcards (before technology was available); now with emails and face book.
I tell her my darkest secrets, and she’s been a very supportive friend.

6) Name one activity you would like to indulge in, in your free time.
(you don’t need just free time, you need $$$$ too)

7) When was the last time you laughed so hard till your sides hurt?
Can’t remember really.
But I laugh a lot when I see Zaria dancing, and Zara passing witty remarks.

8 ) Do you recall your last dream?
……… *blank* ………

9) What is your all-time favourite hobby?

10) When was your last holiday without the children?
Keep a look out here.. it’ll be soon. Haha.

And I would like to tag :
Chanel (since the 2 of you already did the last one)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ . ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
J-ON wanted to know my most embarassing moment.
I think it must be the time we were naked under the sheets in the Hyatt Hotel (I’ll spare you the details of what we were doing), and this house keeping guy just barged in!!
Even when we shouted “Go out! Later! We’re in the room!”
Now, I’m so embarassed, I won’t tag anyone.
Tag Time – Wall Paper and 5 Things Tag
November 2, 2007 at 1:23 pm
I don’t do much Tag, especially these days, the tags are becomming a bit too complex for simple minded people like me. I owe so many people so many tags though, here are some simpler one which I think I can do :
Jazzmint tagged me the wall paper tag, wanting to know what is on my desktop. I don’t own a home pc, so this is my wall paper on my company notebook.
Wall paper
I try to put only shortcuts of application that I use frequently, as I really like to see the faces of my girls when I go to my desktop. This motivates me to keep the desktop tidy.
I would like to tag these ladies to see what is on their wall papers?:
1) Mom2Ashley
2) Chanel
3) Nadia
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ . ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Next it’s the 5 things tag. May and Amah tagged me, although I’d done this quite a while back, this is the updated version.

Remove the blog in the top spot from the following list and bump everyone up one place. Then add your blog to the bottom slot, like so:

1. Ehon?s Rojak?d Life
2. Rinnah
3. Everydayhealy
4. little miss may
5. Laundry Amah

Choose 5 people to tag:
1. WMD
2. Chinnee
3. Zaza
4. Whoisbaby (do you still like tags?)
5. Angie

What were you doing 10 years ago?
Preparing for my wedding. Oh boy.. does it mean we’re celebrating our 10th wedding anniversary in a few days time? :O
(see, we don’t celebrate our anniversary at all, really, I only remember this now when I type out this tag.. such ‘romantic’ couple we are)

What were you doing 1 year ago?
Very pregnant with Zaria (fuyoh, you should see my stomach size).

Five snacks you enjoy
1. Prawn or Fish cracker
2. Ice cream potong
3. Twisties – cheese
4. Dark chocolate
5. Nuts

Five songs that you know all the lyrics to
Seriously, besides nursery rhymes, I can’t remember lyrics to any other songs.

Five things you would do if you were a millionaire.
(Actually, how many millions are we talking about? Because $ is so small these days)
1. Set up a trust fund for Zara and Zaria, so I’ll never have to worry about their education expenses ever again.
2. Get more involve in charity work.
3. Buy a house in a gated community – cash!
4. Travel the world, see the places I wanted to see but haven?t
5. Take years off from work, go back only when I want to not when I have to.

Five bad habits
1. Untidy and messy (I really like tidy desks and rooms, but it’s really difficult to ‘maintain’ them).
2. Quick to lash out, quick temper (Daddy got it a lot from me, and now, sometimes Zara get it too).
3. Deep fried food or any thing high in cholesterol is my favourite type of food.
4. Idling – dreaming, staring at nothingness
5. Shopping for the sake of shopping, not buying things that I need, but buying things that’s on sales (shopoholic syndrome)

Five favourite toys
1. My notebook, will feel so lost without it
2. My ADSL modem, how will I survive without broadband?
3. Our Olympus E500 DSLR camera (why of all camera Daddy bought OLYMPUS? grrrr) and Pentax (for video capturing)
4. My Nokia N73 mobile – present from Maxis to Daddy for his loyalty, Daddy gave this to me to show me his loyalty (he’s using a lousier phone).. 😛
5. My ActivCard to access to company network – without this, I can’t work from home.
(I’m really not so much a gadget person)

Five things you like doing
1. Spending time with my girls
2. Reading – non-fiction, blogs, interesting websites
3. Travelling
4. Baking
5. Messenging

Five things you would never wear again (this is exactly the same as the last time I did this tag)
1. Nursing bra (once I?m done with nursing)
2. Breast pads (once I?m done with nursing)
(I’m going to do lingerie shopping once I’m done nursing!)
3. Eye shadow (I looked like I?d been punched in the eye every time I apply this)
4. Red lipstick (makes me look whorish)
5. Tight fitting clothes (What to do? Even my daugther thinks I’m fat).

Thoughts aside..

A blood blister is a kind of blister that causes formation of subdermal tissues and blood vessels are damaged without piercing the skin and blemish effects appear on skin. continues pressure on a part of body or skin causes callus and it could be dangerous to make that specific skin dead and rubbish.

Hello Hello!

September 29, 2007 at 8:22 am

Thanks to Michelle for helping me set up this new site and move everything over from wordpress.com.

Finally got my own domain after many months of comtemplation. The kiamsiapness (Chinese : stinginess) in me was preventing me from moving over sooner.

My Two Girls

Hello Hello

I wanted to get myself the domain mytwogirls.com but it’s already taken. Aigh.. taken but not in used yet, some one probably booked the domain so that they can auction to me one day.. Hmmph! Anyway, I think mytwogirls.net is not too bad either.

Please update your link accordingly, yeah?

Our Weekend – Short Takes

July 23, 2007 at 2:14 pm

On Friday :
Daddy and I travelled 1hr 15mins to Midvalley (rain + Friday evening == jam) and had dinner in Isthmus. Price is on the steep side, but food is hmm.. so so. Don’t think we’ll go there the second time (we try not to step into Midvalley if it’s not absolutely necessary).

On Saturday :
Brought Zara to Julia Gabriel to attend the Edu Drama class. This is her trial class. She was a bit shy, and was more interested in the masks hung up on the wall of the classroom than listening to the teacher. Not sure if we’ll sign her up for this yet.

Confirmed with my colleague in Singapore that it was indeed a very good concert. I convinced Daddy, and managed to get him to drive me to Midvalley and got these with 15% discount:
Jackie Cheung's Concert Tickets

On Sunday :
I bought more duck eggs from the wet market and did another batch of these :
Duck Eggs soaked in brine

Bought a good block of Parmessan, some portabella mushrooms and yellow oyster mushrooms from Village Grocer. Cooked for Daddy and myself this for lunch (I swear it tasted better than it looks) :
Mushroom Linguini with sauteed mushroom medley topped with shaved parmessan

Baked two dozens of these and sent some over to the neighbours (we have great neighbours, let me blog about this one day) :
Scones with clotted cream and jam

And of course, I played with the girls
Zara and Zaria

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ . ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I was going to the toilet frequently since the start of Friday, and had burning sensation when I pee. Went to the doctor and confirmed I got Urinary Tract Infection! Dang! The 3rd time I’m getting this since I got married (and the last round, I had to be hospitalised for 5 days because of high fever). But I think I’m getting better already after I started on the antibiotic.
