RE was driving me nuts with his rebellion mode and his answers to me at 4++. It was very challenging period. Often I will complain to my husband and tell him,…I dare not imagine how he would be when he reached the teenage period. At 5+ he has mellowed quite a bit.

RE also had the difficulty in joining the word MA and LAM. Don’t worry too much. I used the same method as you by telling him to keep MA in his head and then recall it when he says LAM. It will come slowly. Another way is I ask him to hold MA on his right hand and then LAM on the left hand and then join his hand to say MALAM.

Sometimes, I really feel like spanking her when she talks back. The thing is, she knows I’m angry and would apologise later, and I’d tell her that she was rude, but it just doesn’t seem to sink in coz she’ll repeat it the next minute.

During my childhood time, if I am to answer back or ask back questions, my mother would have spanked or slapped or rotan me cukup cukup. But then, at that time, I also don’t know how to answer back like that. I guess nowadays children are more exposed to many things that adults say and do, so there’s no wonder why children are more verbally daring nowadays!
