Weaning – Zaria
From this…..
to this….
After 1 year and 3 months of breastfeeding Zaria, it’s slowly coming to the end. After my Hong Kong trip, my milk supply dwindled. Not sure if it’s from the stress, or it’s really time to wean her. She started taking half bottle and half breast. She will go to Daddy or Jelly to ask for “Mek (Milk)” when she wants the bottle, and if it’s breast she wanted, she’ll come to me.
She wants breast mainly during the night, or when she wants to do this to me…
This girl likes to poke my belly button when she suckles, and it’s really not comfortable for me at all especially if her nails are not trimmed!!
Sometimes when the breast is not available, she’ll be poking her own belly button instead.. o.O”
While Zara weaned off at 18 months and I wanted to do as long with Zaria, looks like the travellings and the pressure from work is not in our favour. Everybody is telling me it’s high time. Ha.. I’ll stop when the time comes, i.e. when she really doesn’t want it any more because she’s not getting anything.
Honestly…i don’t understand why so many ppl are against the idea of breastfeeding toddlers *rolls eyes*. i for one, will NOT be telling you it’s high time. I support your decision to stop only when she really doesn’t want it anymore. Hang in there yah…
Kids are funny when they’re drinking milk. Mine at one time liked to use his feet to rub on my thigh. Now, he’s still drinking milk before he sleeps and I have to be seated next to him or else he’ll call out for me.
Oh yeah! I am so all for breastfeeding! More breasts! More! More! Actually, isn’t that the most natural thing in the world?
gosh…i so miss those moments now that you talk bout it. I guess just go slow…
I already stopped bf…wanna keep longer but have to stop due to the antibiotic drips..
my Eli loved pulling my hair when he’s latching on me..:)
stress definitely contributes a lot to it especially affecting the adrenaline and noradrenaline circulating your body, which in turn affect the.. er.. can’t rmbr that hormone name which affects other hormones and at the end, affect lactation. Heh! But yeah, go meditate, massage, whatever, and have a clear mind before you breast feed. When I say clear mind, I mean clear mind for maybe 2-3 days in a row, and then have some quiet peaceful time with the baby, feel the love, hear her cry or laugh, or smile. It might help. Also touch. Maybe not the belly button. 😛
my 1st DD : I forced her to stop at age of 3 yrs+ after I gave birth to 2nd DD. I couldn’t cope with the demand. Sometimes both girls are suckling from my breasts at the same time. Plus the fact that she started schooling (gets flu so often, I didn’t want flu germs to spread to the baby).
Yeah, dun listen to those ppl who discourage breast feeding. Bf as long as u want 🙂 It’s a sense of achievement ‘cos we want the best for our children, dun u think? I bf Ryan till 15 mths and Jaden till 18 mths and simply love every moment/bonding time with them 🙂
if u think its time…its time la. Afterall, its yr breast ma. 😛
working from home helps alot also..at least she has milk on tap when you’re home 😛
hi hi long time didn’t visit your blog…
The girls are really groeing!! I was reading your lousy mum post and you knoe what…i thought you were writing about me…yeah, i behave like that too sometimes…bad bad mummy 😉
Botak likes to touch the collar of my Pjs when i’m breastfeeding him..and oh he likes to play with my belly button too..hee hee. ..
haha she’s got a funny habit. old people say poking the belly button will cause tummy ache leh. you and ur gal don’t get tummy ache meh?
it’s already a long journey for you…..i salute u! just listen to yourself.
btw, one my boy touch his own belly button & the other touch his nipple………hahaha but they had weaned off by now!!
Normally it takes a transition of sort to signal the change. For me, I stopped bf #3 when we moved from Bintulu to Miri when she was 28 months. Somehow, the new environment made it easier to wean her off.
My #1 used to twirl her hair when she drank milk.
It’s really up to both of you to decide when to wean off. 🙂
Oh man, there wasn’t any stretch marks on your belly at all. I am so envy. I bf my no. 3 till she turn 2. Not by force but eventually, the girl just don’t ask for them by nature. So I’ll say, continue doing that.
Not fair, how come no stretch marks??!!!
It’s really wonderful that u’re still breastfeeding Zaria. Great job! I think what you said about letting her decide is a great idea. It sounds like she’s semi-weaned anyway. Yeah, and your tummy looks great for someone with 2 kids!
so cute your lil Zaria. Hope she dont hurt her little belly button…
Oh well, she will stop when she’s ready, just like u said. 🙂
Besides that, that belly poking thing might not end as Isabelle likes to do this too, and now she’s sleeping on my belly. Maybe breastfed kids need more assurance after weaning?
Great job for the breastfeeding. Bravo! I guess Zaria will signal to you when she doesn’t want to be breastfeeding anymore.
My girl like to poke my belly button too, she just like to lift my shirt and do it. 😉
seems like she is ready to be weaned…i wonder how long I can last this time around with #2
I say let nature take its course…enjoy the journey while you can. By the way, I think our kids go to the same prep school la, Ethan used to play with my belly button while being breastfed too!
more than 1 year is a great achievement !!!!
Agnes, you are my motivator for my baby no2…
yeah i think it’s the demand & supply rule…i remember when i was breastfeeding kylie i was on the go a lot so i had no choice but to stop..
Muahahaha… muahahahaha.. sorry.. not laughing bcos of your decreasing milk.. but I alsmot rolled down looking/reading of how Zaria will poke your belly button. So ultra cute!
u know, my boy still remembers his breastfeeding days but he actually look shy talking about it… haha!
wahh…BF for more than 1 year? How i wish i can be so productive for No.2 leh!!!
hi there…your blog is so impressive. I got the link to your blog from my friend’s blog TheMakeupGeek. I seriously and honestly envy your wonderful skin without stretch marks after 2 kids! I got so many stretch marks and even striae on my tummy, hips and tighs! OMG sometimes I just really feel so down rated and have no confidence wearing short skirts or pants (without panty hose) voc it just look so ugly. Been wasting lots of money to at least make the marks subside a bit but it all came to a failure. I put on a lot of weight during pregnancy tho maybe it’s my own mistake for not controling my diet but I just can’t stop the craving parts! Ouch! N now, this is all I get. And, I don’t have so much breast milk tat would last untill a year! My boy just turned 11 months ystrday but he’s no more BF. He’s on formula milk since the past 2 – 3 months. You’re so lucky and you girl too!! Awwwww! Envy you lah 😛
