Everyone seems to be saying #2 will be spicier than #1. Bracing myself for it – hopefully mine wouIdn’t be that spicy 🙂

Zaria has a very strong character. Groom her well, hope will be a person with great influence…

Kids are kids, she seems to be irrespectful to you but I believe she doesn’t mean too! They act up just because they don’t know how to handle their anger in proper way! Dont judge them or label them! They are too young to be judged! She will turn out to be a better person when she reaches her teenage years if the parents never give up “educating” her!

Unfortunately, I got damn fierce grandma who expertly swished the cane and set my bum on fire. A lesson i never forget till this day.

Think they are always out to compete with their older sibling. I would have done what you did too. Better to discipline them now than later.

I shudder to think of the consequences if she had hit a little harder, would the eyeball have been injured? I hope not. Had this happened with my kids, I would certainly have gone beyond the usual quick smack and scold, forgive and forget. I would make her reflect, make her explain what she was asking forgiveness for, why it was wrong and how she would handle her emotions the next time she feels angry over little things. Yes, I would make a big deal about it.
One thing that works with my 4yo boy who has a quick temper and cannot resist acting out his unhappiness with his hands, feet or sharp tongue, is to use his “inner voice” . A friend of ours has a similar problem with her 7 yo and sending her to speech and drama classes has helped her rechannel some of her strong emotions.
